Legato Studio: Transformative Furniture

Legato Studio was formed by three innovative New Yorkers who wanted to fill a void in urban furniture design for spaces that aren't necessarily huge. The result of the three partners collaborative input was a distinctive piece of transformative furniture. Legato Studio's dining table is fully functional as a stand-alone piece. In its closed position, the piece serves as an eye-catching bench that offers storage underneath. When opened, the piece becomes a full-size dining table with seating for six. My favorite part is that it can be opened and closed in two easy steps—a feat I saw the designers perform at New York's ICFF. For those who still aren't completely convinced, the striking dining table was made with sustainable materials, including renewable laminated bamboo and a water-based lacquer finish, each of which reduces your urban footprint.
