Karim Rashid is up to his usual tricks
Mar 11, 2011
Whoever said an environmentally sustainable home concept has to stay in an antiquated realm of banality? This is New York! Most of us embrace experimental design, unpardonable behavior, and a never-ending lack of sleep—as long as we keep moving forward. Designer Karim Rashid did just that with his futuristic take on a home using environmentally sustainable bio-sourced components and recycled materials from DuPont™ Corian®. In what was dubbed the “Smart-ologic Corian Living,” project, Rashid used a variety of DuPont™ surfacing materials, colors, Energrain panels for energy consumption reduction, and quartz surfaces—all with an emphasis on eco-friendly, sustainable and bio-sourced ingredients. Rashid, along with DuPont™ Corian®, went out of their way to prove to us that creating sustainable solutions can be far from boring—they just might not be for everyone.

“Smart-ologic Corian® Living” project was proposed in Milan last year.
